Team Building in Marrakech on a Budget: What You Get for €100, €150 and €200 per Person

Team building in Marrakech is not only for large budgets. For 30 people, our calculator gives about €60 to €100 per participant for a half-day medina rally followed by a craft workshop, €110 to €175 for a working day in a 4-star hotel with a rally, and €220 to €360 for a night on site with a working day, an activity and dinner. Flights are extra. Here is, tier by tier, what each budget buys, what to cut first, and the hidden costs that derail a small budget. Every figure comes from our calculator’s model, with a 10% contingency.

Where do the figures come from?

Our seminar and team building budget calculator uses price ranges per item, low to mid-market: medina rally €30 to €45 per person, craft workshop €25 to €45, Moroccan cooking class €45 to €70, quad biking in Agafay €65 to €90, meeting day in a 4-star hotel €50 to €75 per person (room, breaks, lunch), dinner €25 to €45, 4-star night €80 to €130 in a single room, local shuttles €10 to €18 per person per day, airport transfers €6 to €12 return. The scenarios below are costed for 30 participants; with 15 people, fixed items such as a venue hire weigh twice as much per head.

The three tiers in one table

Tier Programme for 30 people Total Per person
Around €100 Medina rally + craft workshop, half day, no transport €1,815 – €2,970 €61 – €99
Around €100 Rally + Moroccan cooking class + shuttles for the day (format 1 of our one-day team building) €2,805 – €4,389 €94 – €146
Around €150 Meeting day in a 4-star hotel with AV + rally + shuttles €3,300 – €5,214 €110 – €174
Around €150 Afternoon rally + group dinner in a private hotel function room €3,355 – €5,940 €112 – €198
Around €200 and above 1 night in a 4-star + meeting day + rally + dinner + airport transfers €6,633 – €10,791 €221 – €360
Around €200 and above 1 night in a riad + meeting day without AV + cooking class + dinner + transfers €6,468 – €10,791 €216 – €360

Excluding flights, alcoholic drinks, tourist tax and agency fees. The bottom of each range reflects simple suppliers, the top more polished services; high season, March to May and September to November, pushes prices up.

Around €100 per person: a half day that bonds

This is the tier for a team already in town, for instance during a seminar organised separately, or for a Moroccan company. A simple format: a team rally through the medina in the morning, two to three hours of clues from Jemaa el-Fna to the souks, then a craft workshop, pottery, zellige or weaving, in a cooperative. Both activities are reached on foot from a central hotel; without shuttles, the total sits between €61 and €99 per person for 30 participants.

If you swap the craft workshop for a Moroccan cooking class, which ends with the lunch the group has cooked, and add shuttles for the day, you move to €94 to €146. Lunch is included in the class: that is what makes this format good value. Our comparison of team building activities in Marrakech ranks formats by price and group size.

Around €150 per person: a full day

Two options at this tier. The first adds work: a meeting day in a 4-star hotel, room, breaks and lunch included, with basic AV, then the rally in the late afternoon. For 30 people with shuttles, count €110 to €174. It is the format of a one-day meeting in Marrakech that ends as a team.

The second option bets on the evening: the rally in the afternoon, then a group dinner in a private hotel function room, €55 to €85 per person for the meal and €500 to €1,500 for the room. For 30 people, €112 to €198. Privatising a riad would add €2,000 to €6,000, an Agafay camp €5,000 to €9,000: at this tier, the hotel is the only evening venue that fits the budget.

Around €200 and above: a night on site

As soon as you sleep in Marrakech, accommodation becomes the first item: €80 to €130 per night per person in a 4-star, €70 to €120 in a riad at room rates (exclusive use of a whole riad is priced separately), always in single rooms. One night, a meeting day, a rally, a dinner and airport transfers give €221 to €360 per person in a 4-star hotel; the riad version, with a cooking class instead of the rally and no AV, comes to €216 to €360 (€227 to €382 with AV). So the riad is not cheaper than the hotel, and it rarely sleeps more than 20: with 30 participants, that means two riads or a hotel.

For two nights, one working day, a hotel evening with a DJ and a rally, you climb to €406 to €695 per person: that is the territory of the classic corporate retreat, which we cost elsewhere.

What to cut first

  1. Venue hire for the evening. A riad or a camp costs €2,000 to €9,000 before the first plate: for 30 people, that is €70 to €300 a head. A hotel function room at €500 to €1,500 does the same job.
  2. Entertainment. A DJ costs €500 to €1,200, live musicians €1,000 to €2,000. A single gnaoua musician for an evening sits in a far lower range and leaves as strong a memory.
  3. Hot-air balloon and quad biking. €170 to €200 per person for the flight, €65 to €90 for two hours of quad plus €10 to €15 of shuttles to Agafay: each of these costs more than the whole €100 tier.
  4. Hotel category. Moving from 5-star to 4-star halves the night, from €160 to €260 down to €80 to €130.
  5. Shuttles. A central hotel and activities on foot remove €10 to €18 per person per day.

What not to cut: the group lunch or dinner, the one moment when the whole team sits at the same table, and the facilitation of the activity. A rally without a facilitator becomes a stroll.

The hidden costs of a small budget

  • Flights. They are in none of our figures and can double the budget of a one-day event. Our guide to group flights to Marrakech explains when to book.
  • Alcoholic drinks, tourist tax and agency fees, always outside our ranges.
  • Airport transfers, €6 to €12 per person return, easy to forget when nobody sleeps on site. A taxi from the airport costs 70 to 150 dirhams.
  • The season. High season, March to May and September to November, pushes prices up: on a tight budget, aim for low season.
  • Ramadan, expected around 8 February 2027 for about a month: some restaurants and activities change their hours.
  • Headcount. Below 20 people, fixed items, room, facilitator, venue, weigh heavily per head; below 10, ask for a quote rather than applying these ranges.

Is a small budget still real team building?

Yes, as long as you keep a goal and a running order. A team rally mixes departments, a cooking class makes people cooperate who never speak at the office, a shared lunch fixes the memory. What creates the effect is not the price of the venue but the care put into the programme. To measure what it brings back, see our article on measuring the return on team building. And if your day is part of a seminar, keep in mind the rules on the share of actual work in the programme, detailed in company retreat abroad and benefits in kind.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest team building in Marrakech?

In our model, a medina rally at €30 to €45 per person, or a craft workshop at €25 to €45. Both combined, for 30 people and without transport, give €61 to €99 per participant with a 10% contingency.

Can you organise team building in Marrakech for €100 per person?

Yes, for a half day of activities without accommodation or flights: rally and crafts, or rally and cooking with lunch included, depending on the suppliers. As soon as you add a night on site, you go above €200.

Is a riad cheaper than a hotel?

Not really. A riad night sits at €70 to €120 per person against €80 to €130 in a 4-star. The riad wins on atmosphere and loses on capacity: rarely more than 20 people in rooms.

When should we go to pay less?

In low season, that is June to August and December to February, avoiding school holidays and Ramadan. Summer means activities early in the morning or in the evening because of the heat.

Are flights included in these budgets?

No. None of our figures include flights, alcoholic drinks, tourist tax or agency fees.
