Budget Corporate Retreat in Marrakech: Three Per-Person Tiers, Flights Excluded

A corporate retreat in Marrakech does not have to be expensive to work. For 30 people, two nights and two working days, our budget calculator gives €249 to €409 per person in a three-star hotel with a meeting room, AV, dinners and airport transfers; €403 to €657 in a four-star hotel with a team activity; and €472 to €800 once you add a company party. All figures exclude flights and include a 10% contingency. Four decisions account for most of the gap between those tiers: hotel category, number of nights, where the party takes place, and the activity. This guide shows what each tier buys, what to cut first and which costs tend to be forgotten. Working to a fixed budget? This article covers a residential retreat, with nights on site. For a half-day or one-day activity, see team building in Marrakech on a budget; for higher-end packages, see our all-inclusive corporate retreat prices.

Where the figures come from

Every amount comes from the model behind our seminar and team building budget calculator, the same one that runs on the site. Its unit prices sit at the low-to-middle end of the market: a night in a single room costs €40 to €65 per person in a three-star hotel, €80 to €130 in a four-star and €160 to €260 in a five-star; a working day with room, breaks and lunch costs €35 to €50 in a three-star and €50 to €75 in a four-star; a group dinner €25 to €45. The model adds 10% for contingencies and leaves out flights, alcoholic drinks, tourist tax and organisation fees. Treat the results as a way to size an envelope, not as a quote.

Three budget tiers at a glance

Common basis: 30 participants, two nights, two working days, return airport transfers.

Tier What is included Total Per person
1. Essentials Three-star hotel, meeting room with AV, two hotel dinners €7,458 to €12,276 €249 to €409
2a. Comfort Four-star hotel, meeting room with AV, two dinners, medina rally €12,078 to €19,701 €403 to €657
2b. Team spirit Three-star hotel, meeting room with AV, one dinner, hotel party with a DJ, medina rally €10,538 to €18,051 €351 to €602
3. Full retreat Four-star hotel, meeting room with AV, one dinner, hotel party with a DJ, medina rally €14,168 to €23,991 €472 to €800

The same full retreat with an evening in the Agafay desert rises to €654 to €1,102 per person; in a five-star hotel, to €681 to €1,141. Those are the two choices that take a retreat out of the budget category.

Tier 1: roughly €250 to €400 per person

A working retreat with nothing superfluous: a three-star hotel with its own meeting rooms, two days of sessions, lunch and breaks on site, two dinners at the hotel, sound and a projector, and airport transfers. For 30 people, that is €7,458 to €12,276, of which accommodation is €2,400 to €3,900 and the working days €2,100 to €3,000.

You can go lower in two ways. Leaving dinners to participants brings the figure down to €194 to €310 per person, but if your company then reimburses those meals as expenses, the cost has simply moved to another budget line. Cutting to one night, with two working days and one dinner, gives €177 to €288 per person. That is the shape of our two-day seminar, and it only works with an early outbound flight and a late return.

At this level the hotel choice matters more than anything: one property that sleeps, feeds and hosts the group removes the need for shuttles.

Tier 2: roughly €350 to €650 per person

Here you are choosing between two ways of spending similar money. Upgrade the hotel to four stars and add a medina rally at the end of a working day: €403 to €657 per person. Or keep the three-star hotel and invest in time together, with one ordinary dinner, a party at the hotel with a DJ and the rally: €351 to €602 per person.

If the retreat is mainly a working session, with long days and people who need quiet rooms, the four-star hotel earns its cost. If the goal is to bring a team together, the party and the activity will be remembered longer than a bigger room. Either way, moving from three to four stars is expensive: over two nights for 30 people, it adds €2,400 to €3,900 in accommodation and €900 to €1,500 in working days, before contingency.

Tier 3: roughly €470 to €800 per person

The full four-star retreat: two working days with AV, one dinner, a company party in a private room at the hotel with a DJ, a medina rally and transfers, for €14,168 to €23,991. It stays reasonable because the party is held at the hotel, at €55 to €85 per person for the dinner and €500 to €1,500 for the room. Moving that evening to a desert camp in Agafay adds €5,445 to €9,075 to the total, including the venue and shuttles. It is often the highlight of the trip, and it is also the line that breaks a budget.

What to cut first

  • Hotel category: €40 to €65 a night in three stars, €80 to €130 in four, €160 to €260 in five. It is multiplied by every participant and every night.
  • One night fewer: one hotel night and one dinner less for the whole group, provided your flights allow it.
  • The party venue: a hotel function room costs €500 to €1,500, a private riad €2,000 to €6,000, an Agafay camp €5,000 to €9,000 plus €10 to €15 per person in shuttles.
  • Entertainment: a DJ costs €500 to €1,200, live musicians €1,000 to €2,000.
  • The activity: a medina rally costs €30 to €45 per person, quad biking in Agafay €65 to €90, a hot-air balloon flight €170 to €200.
  • Shuttles: a central hotel and activities on foot save €10 to €18 per person per day.

Keep the airport transfers (€6 to €12 per person return), the AV in the plenary room and the contingency.

The costs a tight budget forgets

  • Flights, which none of these figures include and which can cost as much as the stay. Group fares follow each airline’s own payment and cancellation rules: see our guide to group flights to Marrakech.
  • Alcoholic drinks, excluded from the model. Set a rule before departure: a package, a cap, or drinks paid by participants.
  • Tourist tax, also excluded. Ask the hotel whether its room rate includes it.
  • Organisation fees, outside the model too. A sound quote shows them separately from supplier costs.
  • Single rooms. The model counts one room per person. If people are willing to share, fewer rooms are billed; if your policy rules that out, do not count on it.
  • Small groups. AV is charged per day, not per head: €300 to €600 a day under 50 people. For 15 participants, tier 1 comes to €271 to €453 per person instead of €249 to €409 for 30. Our guide to a small team offsite suggests formats that fit.

Season: the lever that costs nothing

High season in Marrakech runs from March to May and from September to November, when hotels are most in demand and least willing to negotiate. Winter is often more accessible; summer works if the programme relies on air-conditioned rooms and evening events. Watch for religious and national holidays as well, when some suppliers stop work or change their hours: our guide to the best time for a retreat in 2027 lists them. If your team flies from the UK or Ireland, our article on a company retreat from the UK and Ireland covers airports and entry rules.

What Saphyyr Events does

We start from your budget, not from a catalogue. We tell you what it can buy, which items to favour given the purpose of the retreat, and we price every line separately so you can see where the money goes. We negotiate with hotels and suppliers, coordinate transfers, rooms, meals and activities, and a team stays on site from the first day to the last. We work in English and French.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum budget for a corporate retreat in Marrakech?

In our model, one night and two working days in a three-star hotel cost €177 to €288 per person for 30 people, with meeting room, AV, one dinner and transfers, excluding flights. With two nights and two dinners, allow €249 to €409.

Is a three-star hotel good enough for a company retreat?

Yes, if it has a room that fits your headcount and reliable AV. Check the plenary room, daylight, connectivity and food rather than the number of stars.

What pushes the budget up the most?

Hotel category and the party venue. For 30 people, a five-star hotel takes the full retreat to €681 to €1,141 per person; an Agafay evening takes it to €654 to €1,102.

Are flights included?

No. Every figure in this article excludes flights, alcoholic drinks, tourist tax and organisation fees.
