Wellness Corporate Retreat in Marrakech: Yoga, Hammam, Budget

A wellness corporate retreat in Marrakech is a working retreat whose programme sets aside time for the body every day: yoga or gentle mobility at sunrise, shorter working sessions, a hammam booked for the group in the late afternoon, and evenings that end at a sensible hour. Marrakech suits the format because riads, hotels with a spa and hammam, and quiet estates on the edge of the city all sit within a few kilometres of each other. On budget, our calculator puts twenty people, two nights and two working days in a riad at around €330 to €550 per participant, and €590 to €970 in a five-star hotel, flights excluded. Add €30 to €60 per person for each hammam session with a massage. Here is how to build the programme, choose the venue and avoid the traps specific to this format.

What makes a wellness retreat different from a holiday?

The work. A wellness retreat keeps an agenda, facilitated sessions and a goal: planning the year ahead, rethinking how a team operates, or bringing people back together after a demanding period. What changes is the pace. You work in blocks of two to three hours, you swap the third afternoon session for recovery time, and you avoid the party that runs until 2 am the night before a plenary.

The distinction also matters to your finance team. A trip abroad paid for by the company needs a clearly professional purpose, with a real working programme, so that it is not treated as a perk. For French employers, our article on company retreats abroad and benefit in kind sets out the criteria; elsewhere, check your own country’s rules with your accountant. In practice: keep a written agenda, and treat wellness as a complement to the programme, not its centrepiece.

What does a three-day programme look like?

This is the schedule we most often suggest for a group of fifteen to forty people. It assumes arrival the evening before or early on day one. Morocco stays on GMT all year, so it shares London’s clock in winter and is one hour behind it in summer; from Paris, the flight takes about 3 h 15 to 3 h 30.

Time Day 1 Day 2 Day 3
7.30 – 8.30 am Arrivals, breakfast Optional yoga or gentle mobility Slow garden walk or guided meditation
9 am – 12 pm Opening session Breakout workshops Feedback and decisions
Lunch On site, light On site Closing lunch
2 – 4.30 pm Working session Free time or pool Departures
5 – 7 pm Private hammam, in rotations Short session, then hammam for the second group –
Evening Dinner where you stay Dinner in a riad or on a terrace –

Two rules keep this programme workable. First, every physical activity is optional. In any team, some people do yoga every week, some have never tried it, some have a bad back, and some simply do not want to lie on a mat next to their managing director. Always offer an alternative, such as coffee on the terrace or a walk. Our guide to an inclusive programme when attendance is mandatory covers this in detail. Second, do not trade wellness against work. If a session overruns, cut the free time, not the next morning’s yoga, which is often what people remember most.

How does a private hammam work for a group?

A Moroccan hammam usually has several rooms, each warmer than the last. The classic ritual combines steam, black soap applied to the skin, a scrub with a textured glove (the kessa), often a clay mask made with ghassoul, and a rest. Allow around an hour of treatment per person, longer with a massage.

For a group, settle three points in advance.

  • Capacity. A riad hammam or a hotel spa takes a small number of people at a time. For twenty participants, plan rotations over two late afternoons, which is why the schedule above splits them. Ask the venue how many guests it takes at once and how many therapists it can provide.
  • Mixed or separate. The traditional hammam is single-sex. In hotel spas, practice varies: some offer separate slots for women and men, others a hammam where swimwear is worn. For colleagues, we recommend separate slots or swimwear, and in every case the option of simply enjoying the steam without a treatment.
  • Health. Heat does not suit everyone. Say in the invitation that the session is optional and that anyone who is pregnant or has a medical condition should check with their doctor. Nobody should have to explain why they are skipping it.

On price, our birthday page gives the range we see for a hammam session with massage: €30 to €60 per person. For twenty participants, one session therefore comes to €600 to €1,200 (20 × €30 to 20 × €60). A palace spa sits above that range; a riad hammam towards its lower end.

Yoga, meditation, walking: where and when?

Timing matters more than setting. In July and August, average daytime highs in Marrakech exceed 37 °C, so in summer any physical session belongs before 9 am, on a terrace or in an air-conditioned room. In spring and autumn the mornings are mild and a garden works well. In December and January, average lows drop to around 6 to 7 °C: work indoors, or wait for the mid-morning sun.

Book a teacher used to beginners, who can run a class the whole group can follow rather than an advanced session. Mats, blocks and straps must be provided on site, since nobody travels to a corporate retreat with their own mat. Classes are priced on request, because the cost depends on length, group size and teaching language; our calculator does not include this line. Riad rooftops are often narrow, so for more than fifteen people you need a lawn, a pool house or a function room.

Riad, spa hotel or estate outside the city?

The right format depends on group size. Our article on the private riad corporate retreat shows that bedroom count limits a riad to ten or twenty participants. Beyond that, a spa hotel or an estate outside the city is the only way to keep everyone under one roof.

Criterion Private riad Spa hotel Estate outside the city
Group size Up to 10-20 people From 15 to several dozen Depends on bedrooms
Hammam Often small, a few guests at a time Full spa, slots to book Varies, check
Space for yoga Rooftop, often narrow Studio, garden, poolside Gardens, open space
Quiet Good, with medina sounds Other guests around you The quietest, but every outing needs a vehicle
Meeting equipment Limited Complete Usually hired in

The estate is the closest thing to what people picture when they hear the word retreat: gardens, a pool, silence. The trade-offs are that every outing needs a shuttle and the internet connection must be tested before you sign. Our guide to the hotel or estate for team building compares these venues.

How much does a wellness retreat in Marrakech cost?

We priced three formats with the model behind our online calculator. Figures include single-occupancy rooms, working days (room, breaks and lunch), dinners, airport transfers and a 10% contingency. They exclude flights, alcoholic drinks, tourist tax and organisation fees. Hammam, massages and the yoga teacher are not in the model and are added separately.

  • 20 people, riad, 2 nights, 2 working days: around €6,500 to €11,000, or €330 to €550 per participant.
  • 20 people, five-star hotel, 2 nights, 2 working days with AV: around €11,800 to €19,400, or €590 to €970 per participant.
  • 40 people, four-star hotel, 3 nights, 2 working days with AV: around €19,200 to €31,500, or €480 to €790 per participant.

Add two hammam sessions with massage per person over the stay: €60 to €120 per participant, or €1,200 to €2,400 for twenty people. The wellness line stays small next to accommodation, which on its own is roughly half the budget, more in a five-star. The category of venue, not the number of treatments, is what moves the total.

Which mistakes should you avoid?

Promising a retreat and delivering a packed conference. If the invitation talks about wellbeing and the agenda lists nine hours of sessions a day, people will notice the gap. Be honest about working time.

Booking the hammam too late. Hotel spa slots fill with individual guests, especially in high season, from March to May and from September to November. Have the group’s slots blocked when you book the rooms.

Ignoring the calendar. During Ramadan, expected to start around 8 or 9 February 2027, give or take a day, the city’s rhythm changes: some service hours shift and evening meals start later. It is not an obstacle, but plan for it. Our guide to the best time for a corporate retreat in 2027 helps with dates.

Forgetting the evening. A wellness retreat does not rule out a festive dinner. Put it on the first or second night, not the night before the decision session, and agree a realistic finishing time.

What Saphyyr Events does

We prepare the retreat with you from Paris, then our Marrakech team shortlists venues, books hammam slots and the teacher, organises transfers and stays with the group from the first day to the last. You have one point of contact, in English or French, and a quote itemised line by line rather than a standard rate.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wellness corporate retreat in Marrakech cost?

According to our calculator, around €330 to €550 per participant for 20 people, two nights and two working days in a riad, and €590 to €970 in a five-star hotel, flights excluded. Add €30 to €60 per person for each hammam session with massage.

Can we book a hammam for the whole team?

Yes, though rarely for everyone at once: a hammam takes a few people at a time. For twenty participants, plan rotations over two late afternoons, with separate slots for women and men or a swimwear format.

Should yoga be compulsory?

No. Offer it each morning with a teacher used to beginners, and provide an alternative for anyone who would rather not take part. Imposed exercise has the opposite effect to the one you want.

When is the best time of year?

Spring and autumn for outdoor sessions. Winter works with indoor activities, and summer if yoga happens before 9 am and you favour air-conditioned spaces.
