Marrakech has twelve golf courses according to the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, most of them within twenty minutes of the centre, on the Ouarzazate, Amizmiz and Ourika roads or in the Palmeraie. That is what makes a golf incentive or corporate retreat work: meetings in the morning, golf in the afternoon, no day lost to travel. Two clubs publish meeting rooms with capacities: Fairmont Royal Palm (four rooms, up to 600 people, hotel on site) and Atlas Golf (rooms for 80 and 120 theatre-style). On budget, our calculator gives about €460 to €770 per participant for twenty people, three nights in a four-star hotel and one working day, excluding flights and golf; green fees come on top, for example 1,350 MAD for 18 holes at Al Maaden in the 2026-2027 high season. Here is how to pick the courses, build the programme and avoid the traps specific to golfing groups.
Why Marrakech for a golf incentive?
Course density and season. The federation lists twelve courses in and around the city, several by well-known architects: Kyle Phillips at Al Maaden, Cabell B. Robinson at Amelkis and Fairmont Royal Palm, Niall Cameron at Assoufid. Royal Golf Marrakech, opened in 1927, describes itself as the second-oldest course in the kingdom.
Courses play almost all year, and some set their own high-season rates: Al Maaden, for instance, runs high season from 5 September 2026 to 30 June 2027 and lowers prices in July and August. In summer, average afternoon highs exceed 37 °C, so play starts early and the schedule flips. Morocco stays on GMT all year, the same as London in winter and one hour behind in summer, which keeps jet lag out of the picture for UK and European groups.
Which courses suit a corporate group?
The deciding factor is not how beautiful the course is but what surrounds it: a meeting room, rooms, food, and the drive from your hotel. These are the courses whose details we checked on their official site or the federation’s, on 14 October 2026.
| Course | Layout | Location | For a group |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fairmont Royal Palm | 18 holes, Cabell B. Robinson | Km 12, Amizmiz road | Hotel with 135 rooms and suites; 4 meeting rooms, up to 600 people; handicap 28 required |
| Atlas Golf Marrakech | 9 holes, par 33, Alain Prat | Amizmiz road | Rooms for 80 and 120 theatre-style; terrace for up to 350 standing |
| Al Maaden | 18 holes, par 73, Kyle Phillips | Sidi Youssef Ben Ali | Team building and events offered; restaurant; dated rates published |
| Royal Golf Marrakech | 27 holes (18 + 9), opened 1927 | Route du Golf Royal | Clubhouse, restaurant, corporate events offered |
| Amelkis | 27 holes, Cabell B. Robinson | Km 12, Ouarzazate road | Clubhouse restaurant for business lunches |
| Assoufid | 18 holes, par 72, Niall Cameron | Km 10, Guemassa road | Private Pavilion for up to 15; maximum handicap 35 |
| PalmGolf Ourika | 18 holes, par 72, Haworth and Talbot | Km 13, Ourika road | Seminars offered in an outdoor space, no capacity published |
The federation also lists Samanah, Noria, The Montgomerie, The Tony Jacklin Marrakech and the Palmeraie course (Rotana). They are real courses, but their official information could not be consulted when we wrote this, so we check them case by case before proposing them. Be wary of online lists mentioning a “Mamounia golf course”: it does not exist.
Two set-ups work. The first is a golf hotel such as Fairmont Royal Palm, where meeting, golf and dinner all happen on site. The second is a city hotel with two or three different courses over the stay, linked by shuttles. The first is simpler; the second appeals more to strong players, who come for the variety.
What does a meetings-and-golf programme look like?
The most common format is three nights with a day and a half of work.
- Day 1: arrivals, check-in, welcome dinner.
- Day 2: working session from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, lunch at the clubhouse, tee times early afternoon, dinner at the hotel.
- Day 3: early tee times for a friendly scramble, lunch and prize-giving, a short late-afternoon session, dinner in a riad.
- Day 4: nine holes or free time depending on flights, departures.
Allow four and a half to five hours for a group round of 18 holes, longer if tee times are back to back. Twenty players need five consecutive four-ball tee times: that is the first thing to secure with the club.
A scramble, where each team plays its best ball, is the ideal format for mixed abilities: beginners take part without slowing play. For non-golfers, book a range lesson with a pro, or a parallel activity such as a hammam, a cooking class or a medina visit. Our comparison of team building activities helps plan the non-players’ day. If the goal is to recharge rather than stack up sessions, read our article on a wellness retreat in Marrakech.
What rules and pitfalls apply to golfing groups?
Handicaps. Some courses set a minimum level: Fairmont Royal Palm requires a valid licence and a handicap of 28 or better, Assoufid a maximum handicap of 35 with a certificate. Collect licences and handicaps at registration, and plan an easier course, or a nine-hole like Atlas Golf, for beginners.
Caddies. Royal Golf Marrakech states that a forecaddie has been compulsory since 28 May 2025, following a federation notice, payable in cash. Ask every club for its rules on caddies and buggies, and bring cash.
Equipment. Golf bags travel as special baggage, with a fee depending on the airline, and transfers must allow for them: a minibus full of passengers will not take twenty bags. Clubs hire out sets; reserve them in advance for anyone travelling light. Flights are booked by you or your travel agent.
Calendar. Check no competition blocks the course on your dates: the federation holds, for example, the Moroccan category championship at Samanah from 4 to 6 December 2026. And note that the country’s big professional events, the Trophée Hassan II and the Lalla Meryem Cup, are played in Rabat, not Marrakech.
How much does a golf incentive cost?
Our calculator has no golf line: green fees, buggies, caddies and club hire are added to the base budget. For twenty participants, including airport transfers and a 10% contingency:
- Golf retreat, four-star: three nights, one working day with AV, three dinners, shuttles to the courses over three days. About €9,200 to €15,300, or €460 to €770 per participant.
- Golf incentive, five-star: three nights, two working days with AV, two dinners, an evening in a privatised riad with live musicians, shuttles over three days. About €20,700 to €37,300, or €1,040 to €1,870 per participant.
Then add green fees. As a dated example, Al Maaden lists for its 2026-2027 high season (5 September 2026 to 30 June 2027) 1,350 MAD for 18 holes and 750 MAD for 9, plus 400 MAD for an 18-hole buggy. For twenty players and two 18-hole rounds each, that is 54,000 MAD in green fees (20 × 2 × 1,350 MAD), before buggies and caddies. Apart from Assoufid, which publishes rates valid from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, other clubs publish undated or expired prices, which we confirm for your dates. Our article on the incentive trip to Morocco explains the logic of a reward trip, and the one on the executive leadership offsite covers the small-group format where golf often features.
