An executive leadership offsite in Marrakech fits into two nights: arrive on Thursday late morning, two half-days and one full day of work, fly back on Saturday. For a twelve-person executive committee staying in a 5-star hotel, with meeting room, breaks, lunches, AV, two dinners and transfers, budget around €7,300 to €12,200, or €610 to €1,010 per person, excluding flights. The choices that really matter lie elsewhere: the venue (hotel, riad or a privately hired house), confidentiality, whether or not to bring in a facilitator, and the date, because early 2027 partly falls during Ramadan.
Why take a leadership team to Marrakech?
For an executive committee, the case is not about a change of scenery: it is about stepping away. Getting eight to fifteen senior leaders out of their offices, their diaries and their overrunning meetings, on a journey short enough not to lose a working day. From Paris the flight takes a little over three hours, and direct routes also leave from several French regional cities.
The time difference is small, which matters for executives who keep an eye on the business. Since 20 September 2026, Morocco has been on GMT all year round, with no change during Ramadan. In practice, Marrakech is one hour behind Paris in winter and two hours behind in summer. A call set for 9 am in Paris is taken at 8 am or 7 am locally.
One formality to check for everyone: passports. For French nationals, according to the France Diplomatie entry and stay page, the passport must be valid for the whole stay, and an identity card alone is no longer accepted. A return ticket is one of the documents required. Other nationalities should check their own government’s advice. For the wider case for the city, see our page on seminars in Marrakech.
What does a two-day agenda look like?
The format that works for a leadership team is shorter than a team seminar, but denser. Here is a typical agenda, to be adjusted to your actual flight times.
Thursday. Morning flight, arrival late morning, straight transfer to the venue: the airport is close to town. Light lunch, then a first session from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm. This is where you set out the diagnosis: figures, current state of play, what each person expects from the two days. Dinner as a small group at the venue, with no agenda.
Friday. This is decision day. Session from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm on the options, lunch, then a session from 2 pm to 5 pm to decide and assign responsibilities. Late afternoon stays free or hosts a short activity. Friday dinner is the moment to leave the workplace, for example in a privately hired riad.
Saturday. Wrap-up from 9 am to 11 am: review of decisions, drafting the roadmap, the message to take back to the teams the following week. Departure for the airport early in the afternoon.
Two rules hold this rhythm together. First: no session after 6.30 pm, because a tired committee signs off without debate. Second: a room booked for the whole stay, including mealtimes, so materials can stay on the walls from one session to the next. If you would rather have a longer format mixing work and team bonding, our guide to team building in Marrakech shows how to build it into a programme.
Hotel, riad or private house: what does it cost?
The budgets below come from the model behind our seminar budget calculator, for twelve participants, two nights in single rooms, two days of meeting room with breaks and lunch, sound and projection with a technician, two dinners and airport transfers. A 10% contingency is included; flights, alcoholic drinks, tourist tax and organisation fees are not.
| Set-up (12 executives, 2 nights) | Total budget | Per person |
|---|---|---|
| 4-star hotel | €4,800 to €8,100 | €400 to €670 |
| Riad | €4,600 to €7,900 | €380 to €660 |
| 5-star hotel | €7,300 to €12,200 | €610 to €1,010 |
| 5-star hotel, Friday dinner in a privately hired riad | €10,100 to €19,500 | €840 to €1,630 |
Two readings. The riad and the 4-star are almost level on price; what separates them is the meeting room and access. And the evening in a privately hired riad changes scale at twelve: hiring a venue costs about the same for twelve people as for sixty, so it pushes the budget up by roughly 35 to 60%. If dinner off site matters to you, make that choice with your eyes open.
What about hiring an entire house?
For a leadership team, taking over a whole property is often more affordable than people think, because the group is small. On 13 June 2026, the travel magazine Yonder published “from” prices for several addresses in Marrakech. Brought back to your group, they give the following:
- Palais Leonia: 10 suites, up to 20 people, exclusive use from €2,790 per night, or around €280 per suite per night for a committee of ten, and €5,580 for two nights, before meals and meeting space.
- Domaine Shama: 22 keys, spaces for 150 people indoors and outdoors, exclusive use from €3,190 per night, or around €145 per key if fully occupied, but around €265 per person per night for a committee of twelve.
- Villa Taj: 21 keys, from €20,000 for two weeknights, or around €830 per person per night for twelve people.
For comparison, the calculator’s accommodation line for ten people in a 5-star hotel over two nights ranges from €3,200 to €5,200. A privately hired house with ten suites therefore starts just above the top of a luxury hotel’s range, with one decisive advantage for a leadership team: nobody else on site. Two caveats before you get carried away. These are floor prices published by a magazine, not quotes: ask what they include (meals, staff, meeting space) and on which dates they apply. And check the working space: Yonder notes that Palais Leonia has no meeting room in the strict sense, its living areas being rearranged as needed. For a committee working eight hours a day on screens, that is something to see in person.
How do you guarantee confidentiality?
A leadership meeting covers results, reorganisations, sometimes individuals. The venue has to allow for that, and you can check it on five points to be written into the quote.
The meeting room must be closed and reserved for the group for the whole stay, with no other meeting scheduled next door and no guests passing through. Service staff should be kept to a small, named team and not come in during sessions: breaks are served at fixed times. The internet connection should be dedicated, or at least protected by a password specific to the group, with the speed checked before arrival. Printing is done on a printer under your control, not at reception. Finally, papers, flipcharts and sticky notes are collected or destroyed at the end of each day.
Taking over the whole property settles most of these questions in one go. At a hotel, ask for a room away from the function areas, and check whether another group is expected on the same days.
Do you need a facilitator?
The question arises as soon as the CEO wants to take part in the debate rather than chair it. An external facilitator prepares the sessions with them, keeps time, brings in those who stay quiet and records the decisions. The CEO becomes a member of the committee again, which often changes the quality of the discussion.
Without a facilitator, at least appoint a timekeeper and someone to record decisions, both different from the CEO. Either way, send the agenda and working papers a week before departure: two days are not enough to discover a file and decide on it. A facilitator’s fee depends on their preparation and experience: it is not part of the calculator and is costed separately.
When should you schedule a leadership offsite in 2027?
If your committee meets early in the year to set the roadmap, that calendar overlaps with Ramadan. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, give or take a day depending on the moon sighting, ending in early March, with Eid al-Fitr expected around 9 or 10 March. The clocks, on the other hand, no longer change: Morocco has stayed on GMT all year since September 2026. Ramadan is not an obstacle to a seminar, but a factor to build in from the moment you choose the dates.
Two other markers. French school winter holidays in 2027 run from 6 February to 7 March depending on the zone: an executive with children may be tied up. And evenings in January and February are cool, with average lows of 6 to 8 °C: dinner on a terrace needs outdoor heaters, or should be moved indoors. High season, March to May and September to November, brings a milder climate but availability that shrinks quickly; for a group of twelve this is less critical than for a large group, unless you are after a private property.
An activity, or not?
For a leadership team, one activity is enough: short, at the end of a day, and chosen to encourage conversation rather than competition. A Moroccan cooking workshop, for instance, adds €540 to €840 for twelve people before contingency, and brings the 5-star budget to €7,900 to €13,100. Our page on team building in Marrakech presents the other formats. A simple welcome pack in each room, with the agenda and practical information, also heads off a string of questions on arrival.
If, on the other hand, your seminar brings together the whole management layer, over fifty people, the logistics are a different world: see our article on seminars for 50, 100 or 200 people in Marrakech.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a leadership offsite in Marrakech cost?
For twelve executives, two nights, two working days, two dinners and transfers, the calculator gives €4,800 to €8,100 in a 4-star hotel and €7,300 to €12,200 in a 5-star, excluding flights, 10% contingency included.
How many days should an executive committee offsite last?
Two nights are enough: a half-day diagnosis on arrival, a decision day, a wrap-up morning before flying back. Any longer and the company is without its leadership for too long.
Riad or hotel for a leadership team?
A riad offers privacy at a price close to a 4-star, but technical equipment is often limited and the last stretch through the medina is on foot. A hotel offers a proper meeting room. A privately hired house combines the two, at a higher price.
Is there a time difference with France?
Marrakech is one hour behind Paris in winter and two hours behind in summer: Morocco has been on GMT all year round since 20 September 2026.
