Private Birthday Pool Party in Marrakech

A private birthday pool party in Marrakech happens in a villa or estate with a pool, booked for your group alone: arrive in the early afternoon, pool and DJ until sunset, dinner, then music until the cut-off, usually between midnight and 1am. Excluding the venue, which is quoted on request, allow roughly €2,400 to €5,100 for 30 guests and €3,600 to €7,500 for 50, covering a DJ, a celebration dinner, a cake and flowers. The season decides almost everything: from June to August the heat pushes the party towards the evening; from December to February, ask whether the pool is heated. Here is the running order, pool safety and the budget, line by line.

Private pool party or day club?

Marrakech offers two ways to party round a pool. The first is the day club: a venue open to the public, with loungers, a bar and a DJ, where you reserve an area for your group. The second is the private pool party, in a villa or estate you rent for yourselves.

A day club is the easy option for a small group already staying in hotels: nothing to set up, nothing to rent. But you share the space, the music and closing time are not yours, and a cake, speeches or decorations are not always possible. A private pool party takes more organising, but everything is yours: guest list, playlist, menu, the moment the cake comes out. From about twenty people, or for a milestone birthday (30th, 40th, 50th), this is the format that suits best.

Choosing the villa itself, its contract, deposit and maximum guest numbers, is covered in our guide to renting a villa for a birthday. We will not repeat it here.

What time should you start, month by month?

A pool party follows the sun. Climate normals for Marrakech-Menara (1991-2020) give the picture: an average high of 37.7°C in July and 37.4°C in August, against 29.4°C in May, 28.5°C in October and 20.1°C in December. Evenings cool down: an average low of 20.6°C in July, 7.3°C in December.

Period What it changes Suggested timing
June to August Average highs above 33°C: a full afternoon in the sun is hard going, even in the water. Arrive around 5pm, pool until dark, dinner after sunset (about 7.40pm in late June and July).
April-May and September-October The most comfortable months, and the most in demand. Arrive around 1pm, pool in the afternoon, dinner at sunset (about 7pm in April, 6pm in October).
November to March Mild days, cool nights; an unheated pool is cold. Poolside lunch rather than swimming, dinner indoors or with braziers.

Sunset times are calculated benchmarks for the 15th of each month, in Moroccan time. Morocco has been on GMT all year round since 20 September 2026: the same time as London in winter, one hour behind in summer. Put local time on the invitation.

A typical birthday pool party, hour by hour

A running order for a spring or autumn date, with 30 to 50 guests staying in town.

  1. 1pm – 1.30pm: shuttles leave from a meeting point in town; arrival at the villa, cold drinks.
  2. 2pm – 6pm: pool, daytime DJ set, cold buffet or grill available.
  3. 6.30pm: change of pace. Guests change; the DJ turns it down or hands over to a musician for drinks.
  4. 7.30pm: celebration dinner, plated or buffet.
  5. 9.30pm: cake and speeches, then the DJ again.
  6. Midnight – 1am: music off, as the contract states; last shuttles.

The trap to avoid: letting everyone arrive and leave under their own steam. With shuttles at fixed times, you know who is on site, and nobody drives after drinking.

Pool safety

A pool, alcohol, music and darkness: the combination that calls for the most discipline. Four simple rules:

  • No glass by the pool. Shatterproof cups and flutes around the water; a shard of glass in the water is hard to spot.
  • One person in charge of the pool. While people are swimming, someone’s only job is to watch the water. Ask the owner whether the villa provides a lifeguard; if not, arrange one.
  • Close or light the pool after dark. When dinner starts, swimming stops. A lit pool, or one closed off by a barrier, prevents late-night falls.
  • Children separately. If children are coming, plan an activity and a dedicated adult: an adult pool party is not a place for supervision. Our guide to children’s birthdays in Marrakech (in French) explains how.

As for drinks, alcohol is served in venues with the required licence, or by an authorised supplier. Not every villa has one: check before booking, not the day before.

How much does a private pool party cost for 30 or 50 guests?

The sum uses the ranges published on our birthday party in Marrakech page (celebration dinner, cake, flowers) and the DJ price in our group budget calculator. It assumes a DJ from afternoon to the end of the night, a celebration dinner, a bespoke cake and flowers for the main table.

Item 30 guests 50 guests
Celebration dinner (€60 to €120 per head) €1,800 to €3,600 €3,000 to €6,000
DJ €500 to €1,200 €500 to €1,200
Bespoke cake €25 to €60 €25 to €60
Flowers €50 to €200 €50 to €200
Total, excluding venue and drinks about €2,400 to €5,100 about €3,600 to €7,500
Per guest about €80 to €170 about €70 to €150

The working. For 30: 1,800 + 500 + 25 + 50 = €2,375 and 3,600 + 1,200 + 60 + 200 = €5,060. For 50: 3,000 + 500 + 25 + 50 = €3,575 and 6,000 + 1,200 + 60 + 200 = €7,460. Per guest: 2,375 ÷ 30 ≈ €79 and 5,060 ÷ 30 ≈ €169; 3,575 ÷ 50 ≈ €72 and 7,460 ÷ 50 ≈ €149.

On top

  • Villa hire, quoted on request for the date and villa.
  • Shuttles: our calculator uses €10 to €18 per person per day, so €300 to €540 for 30 guests and €500 to €900 for 50.
  • A musician for drinks: €150 to €300 for a solo Gnaoua musician for the evening; a five-piece group costs 8,000 to 15,000 dirhams.
  • The afternoon buffet, drinks and pool furniture (loungers, parasols, poufs) if the villa is short: on request.

Pitfalls to avoid

A cold pool

An unheated pool in December or January is scenery, not somewhere to swim. If swimming matters, ask in writing whether the pool is heated and to what temperature.

The DJ in the wrong spot

Sound carries over water. Put the DJ with their back to the neighbours, and have the volume and end time written into the contract. The usual benchmark is music off between midnight and 1am. Live music, a DJ and the running order of the night: read our article on birthday entertainment in Marrakech.

No shade

A lawn in full sun empties by 3pm. Count the parasols, pergolas and trees before you sign, and add shade sails if needed.

Ramadan

Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year: in 2027 it is expected to begin around 8 February, give or take a day. During that month, opening hours and alcohol service change. Check your date before booking.

What Saphyyr Events does

We shortlist villas with pools that are genuinely available on your date, negotiate the contract, then select and contract the DJ, caterer, pâtissier, flowers and, if needed, security. We arrange shuttles and check the alcohol question venue by venue. Our team prepares everything from Paris or Marrakech, in English or French, and stays on site on the day, from set-up until the last guest leaves.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time of year for a pool party in Marrakech?

April-May and September-October: days are hot without being punishing, and you can swim in the afternoon. They are also high-season months: book the villa three to six months ahead.

Can we have a pool party in midsummer?

Yes, if you shift everything into the evening: arrive around 5pm, pool until dark, dinner after sunset. Plan plenty of water and shaded areas.

How far ahead should we plan?

Six to eight weeks for a party without accommodation, three to six months for a full weekend. An authorisation request goes to the prefecture: 30 days ahead above 100 guests, 15 days ahead below.

Can we combine the pool party with a dinner elsewhere?

Yes, and it makes a good weekend: pool party on Saturday, dinner in a riad or the desert on Friday. Our guide to a private party in Marrakech compares evening venues.

We find the villa, book the DJ and caterer and coordinate the day on the ground: see our birthday party planning in Marrakech, or ask for a free quote with your date and guest count.
