To take a corporate group out to dinner in Marrakech, you have three options: reserve tables in a restaurant open to the public, take a private room or terrace, or hire the whole venue. Several well-known venues say so on their own websites: Comptoir Darna and Kabana can be privatised in full or in part, Palais Jad Mahal offers exclusive hire of the palace with its dinner show, and Palais Dar Soukkar, on the Ourika road, lists up to 1,800 seated guests. On budget, our calculator puts a dinner for 60 people at about €4,700 to €8,600 with a DJ in a private hotel space, and €8,300 to €16,600 in a privatised riad or palace with live musicians and shuttles. Here is how to choose the format, which venues to approach for your numbers, and what to lock down before booking.
Reserved tables, private room or full buyout?
The right format depends on group size and what you want to happen during dinner.
- Reserved tables work for up to about twenty people. You dine among other guests, with a group menu agreed in advance. No speeches, no awards: it is a meal, not an event.
- A private room or terrace works for roughly twenty to eighty people, depending on the venue. You get your own space, dedicated service and sometimes a microphone. If the venue has a show, it is often shared with the whole room.
- A full buyout is needed when you want control of the programme: speeches, video, entertainment, timings. It is also the only way to be sure the show is performed for you.
A simple rule: if a senior leader needs to speak, you need at least a private space. In a shared room with a show on, nobody will hear them.
Which venues to approach for which group size?
Here is what venues publish themselves, checked on their websites on 14 October 2026. None publishes group prices: everything is on request, and terms vary by date.
| Venue | Type | What the venue publishes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Palais Dar Soukkar (Ourika road) | Reception palace, nightly dinner show | 1,800 seated, 2,500 standing; congresses and corporate galas | 100 to several hundred |
| Palais Jad Mahal (Hivernage) | Dinner show | Exclusive hire of the palace and its dinner show, corporate evenings mentioned | Medium to large groups, capacity on request |
| Comptoir Darna (Hivernage) | Restaurant with shows | Full or partial privatisation; tailored options from 12 guests; shows at 9.30 pm and 11.20 pm | From 12 guests to a buyout |
| Kabana | Rooftop | Partial or full privatisation, private and corporate events | Drinks or dinner for small to medium groups |
| La Mamounia | Palace hotel, four restaurants | Private Hire offer and seminars | High-end dinner, on request |
| Le Foundouk (medina) | Restaurant, rooftop | Group menus page | Groups on reserved tables |
| Dar Essalam, Le Salama (medina) | Restaurants with a nightly show | Gnaoua music and belly dance; groups and buyouts not detailed | Ask case by case |
This is not a ranking: these are venues that exist, are open and say they host groups or can be privatised. Before booking, ask for capacity in the layout you will use (round tables, banquet, standing), and visit in the evening, at dinner time.
Two other families complete the picture. Medina riads and palaces hired for the evening usually seat twenty to fifty. Camps in the Agafay desert, about 45 minutes away, suit a dinner under canvas: our article on corporate events in the Agafay desert covers the logistics.
What should you know about dinner shows?
The dinner show is the format most requested by groups discovering Marrakech: gnaoua music, belly dance, sometimes acrobats or fire performers. Four things to settle.
Timing. Shows start late and run in sequences: at Comptoir Darna, for example, at 9.30 pm and again at 11.20 pm. Set the group’s arrival time around the show you want to see, not the other way round.
Volume. Once the show starts, conversation stops. Schedule speeches before service or between sequences, and brief your speakers.
Seating. In a shared room, a group of sixty can end up scattered across the room, far from the stage. Ask for a floor plan and one continuous area.
Audience. For an international or mixed group, ask for a description of the show in advance. When you privatise, you can build your own programme: our guide to the corporate gala dinner explains how entertainment fits into the evening. To pick an atmosphere, see our corporate event themes in Marrakech.
Fantasia, the traditional horseback show, takes place in dedicated venues outside the city, such as Chez Ali in the Palmeraie. It is a large-scale, more touristic format that requires coach transport both ways.
How much does a private group dinner cost?
Restaurants do not publish group prices and our calculator has no “restaurant” line. It does price private evenings, combining dinner per head, venue hire, entertainment and shuttles. For 60 people, including a 10% contingency:
- Private hotel space with a DJ: about €4,700 to €8,600, or €80 to €140 per person.
- Privatised riad or palace with live musicians and shuttles: about €8,300 to €16,600, or €140 to €280 per person.
- Privatised Agafay camp with live musicians and shuttles: about €11,200 to €19,400, or €190 to €320 per person.
For 150 people in a privatised palace-style reception venue, the total rises to about €15,700 to €28,300, but the cost per head falls to €110 to €190, because the hire fee is paid once whatever the numbers. These figures exclude alcoholic drinks, tourist tax and organisation fees. A full show or troupe is quoted separately.
Which pitfalls should you avoid?
Alcohol. Not every restaurant serves it. Ask first, and get it in writing what the group menu includes: water, tea, wine, a welcome drink.
Access. Cars cannot enter the medina, so the group finishes on foot from the nearest gate, led by someone who knows the way. For venues outside the city, such as on the Ourika road, everyone must be driven there and back: plan shuttles and staggered returns.
Finishing time. Amplified music usually stops between midnight and 1 am. In a restaurant open to the public, the venue decides.
Dietary needs. Send them with the order, with exact numbers: vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies. A group menu is hard to change on the night.
Calendar. In high season, from March to May and September to November, the most popular venues book up early for large groups. During Ramadan, expected to begin around 8 or 9 February 2027, give or take a day, some restaurants change their hours.

Frequently asked questions
Which restaurant can you privatise for a group in Marrakech?
It depends on numbers: Palais Dar Soukkar lists up to 1,800 seated guests; Comptoir Darna, Palais Jad Mahal and Kabana offer full or partial privatisation. For fewer than twenty, reserved tables with a group menu are enough.
How much does a group dinner in Marrakech cost?
In our calculator, for 60 people: about €80 to €140 per head in a hotel space with a DJ, €140 to €280 in a privatised riad or palace with musicians and shuttles, excluding alcohol.
Can you give a speech during a dinner show?
Only if the venue is privatised, and before service or between sequences. In a shared room, the show drowns everything out.
Where can a group of more than 300 dine?
In a reception palace, a large hotel or an equipped camp at Agafay. Few restaurants seat several hundred: for a conference, our guide to conferences and conventions in Marrakech covers the gala dinner.
To organise your group dinner, see our corporate retreat planning in Marrakech and bespoke event planning, estimate the evening with the seminar and team building budget calculator, or ask for a free quote with your date and number of guests.
