Holding a corporate event or company retreat in Marrakech during Ramadan 2027 works well, as long as the programme follows the rhythm of the city instead of fighting it. Ramadan is expected to run from Monday 8 or Tuesday 9 February to Monday 8 or Tuesday 9 March 2027, give or take a day: the exact start depends on the sighting of the new moon and is only announced the evening before. Mornings stay productive, afternoons slow down, and the fast is broken at sunset, around 6:20 pm in early February and 6:40 pm in early March in Marrakech. If you already have dates and a headcount, our [seminar team in Marrakech](https://saphyyrevents.fr/en/seminar-in-marrakech) will tell you within 48 business hours what is feasible: just send a [free quote request](https://saphyyrevents.fr/en/free-quote?projet=seminaire).

This guide complements our [2027 calendar for corporate retreats in Marrakech](https://saphyyrevents.fr/en/corporate-retreat-marrakech-2027-best-time), which covers when to go. Here we assume your dates fall during Ramadan, because it is the only week your leadership team is free or because you want to experience the city at that time, and we cover timings, meals, a sample programme, suppliers, budget and the windows just before and after.

## When is Ramadan 2027 in Morocco?

Ramadan follows the lunar calendar and moves about eleven days earlier each year. For 2027 (year 1448 of the Hijri calendar), calendars built on the method of Morocco’s Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs put the first day on Monday 8 February and Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 March. These dates are projections: in Morocco the ministry sets the start of the month on the evening of the 29th of Shaaban, once its regional delegates have reported the crescent. That is how, on the evening of 18 February 2026, it announced that Ramadan would begin the next day.

Plan with a range rather than a date: start expected on 8 or 9 February, end on 8 or 9 March, Eid al-Fitr expected on 9 and 10 March 2027. Both Eid days are public holidays and many suppliers stop to celebrate with their families, so avoid them for arrivals, gala evenings or final supplier briefings.

Clocks do not change: since 20 September 2026 Morocco has stayed on GMT all year round, Ramadan included. The UK is also on GMT until 28 March 2027, so London and Marrakech share the same time throughout Ramadan; Paris, Brussels and Geneva are one hour ahead.

## What time is iftar in Marrakech in February and March 2027?

Iftar, the meal that breaks the fast, starts at the sunset call to prayer (maghrib). Imsak marks the start of the fast, about ten minutes before the dawn prayer. For Marrakech, times calculated with the ministry’s method give these local-time benchmarks:

| Date (2027) | Expected day of Ramadan | Imsak (fast begins) | Iftar (maghrib) | Isha prayer |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Monday 8 February | 1st | 5:43 am | 6:18 pm | 7:30 pm |
| Monday 15 February | 8th | 5:38 am | 6:24 pm | 7:36 pm |
| Monday 22 February | 15th | 5:31 am | 6:29 pm | 7:41 pm |
| Monday 1 March | 22nd | 5:24 am | 6:35 pm | 7:46 pm |
| Monday 8 March | 29th | 5:16 am | 6:40 pm | 7:51 pm |

These are calculations: only the times published by the Ministry of Habous are official, so check them a few days before travelling. For your schedule, one rule matters: anything planned between 6 pm and 7 pm, from transfers to dinners and receptions, has to be built around iftar.

## What actually changes for a group?

### The pace of the day

Many services adjust their hours. Public administrations switch to a continuous 9 am to 3 pm day, Monday to Friday, a rule renewed every year. Shops, medina restaurants and suppliers adapt too: some close in the afternoon, others open late. The city is quieter by day and comes alive after iftar, often late into the night.

### Local crews

Some of the people working on your event will be fasting: drivers, waiting staff, technicians, guides. They work normally, but avoid asking for heavy physical work late in the afternoon and do not schedule a transfer at the exact time of iftar, as the driver needs to break the fast too. Plan dinner departures a little before or half an hour after.

### Eating and drinking during the day

Guests who are not fasting can have lunch at the hotel; ask for it in writing, ideally in a private room. In town, be discreet: article 222 of the Moroccan penal code punishes, with one to six months in prison and a fine, a person publicly known to be Muslim who openly breaks the fast in a public place. It targets people known to be Muslim, whatever their nationality, not non-Muslim visitors; it also explains why nobody picnics in full view at noon or walks through the medina with a drink.

### Alcohol

Do not assume. Ask the venue in writing, before signing, what it will serve during Ramadan, where and at what times, and plan a proper alcohol-free offer anyway: fresh juices, mint tea, lemonades.

### Your own colleagues who fast

If part of your team observes Ramadan, the programme has to work for them as well: no compulsory team lunch, no sport in mid-afternoon, a shared iftar rather than a dinner served at 9 pm. Our guide to an [inclusive team building programme](https://saphyyrevents.fr/en/mandatory-team-building-inclusive-programme) gives more simple rules.

## A sample Ramadan programme

The principle: work in the morning, keep the afternoon light, and make iftar the highlight of the day.

8:30 am – 12:30 pm: working sessions. Everyone is at their sharpest, fasting or not. Put plenaries, decisions and demanding workshops here, with a coffee and tea break for those who are not fasting.

12:30 – 2 pm: lunch and free time. Lunch at the hotel for non-fasting guests, rest for the others.

2 – 4:30 pm: light format. Small-group workshops, feedback sessions, a short visit in the shade, or free time. No sport, no long drives.

5 – 6 pm: quiet time back at the hotel.

Around 6:20 – 6:40 pm: iftar. Dates, milk, harira soup, chebakia pastries and juices are served at the call to prayer. It is a strong team moment, shared by those who fast and those who do not.

8:30 pm onwards: dinner or evening event. Either a generous iftar buffet that replaces dinner, or a later dinner, then a walk through the lively city or a private evening in a riad. For a general retreat structure without calendar constraints, see our [two-day seminar programme and budget](https://saphyyrevents.fr/en/two-day-seminar-marrakech-programme-budget).

## How much does a retreat during Ramadan cost?

Our [seminar and team building budget calculator](https://saphyyrevents.fr/en/seminar-team-building-budget-calculator-marrakech) does not change with Ramadan: same cost lines, different timings. For 40 people, two nights in a 4-star hotel in single rooms, two working days with meeting room and AV, two dinners served at iftar time and airport transfers, it gives €14,564 to €23,848, or €364 to €596 per person, including a 10% contingency and excluding flights. Swapping one dinner for a private riad evening with live musicians brings the range to €19,624 to €35,068, or €491 to €877 per person.

February is outside Marrakech’s high season (March to May and September to November), so hotel availability is usually better, but there is no guaranteed discount: negotiate with quotes in hand.

## Before or after Ramadan: the 2027 windows

If Ramadan does not suit your event, two windows frame it. Before: 4 January to 5 February 2027, avoiding the public holidays on 11 and 14 January, with highs around 19 to 21 °C. After: from 11 March, once Eid is over; you are then entering high season, so book early. For a full preparation schedule, see our [corporate retreat timeline from D-180 to D+7](https://saphyyrevents.fr/en/corporate-retreat-marrakech-planning-timeline); for early February, hotels are booked the previous autumn.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can we hold a company retreat in Marrakech during Ramadan?

Yes. Hotels, venues and suppliers stay open; only the pace changes. Work in the morning, keep afternoons light and make iftar, around 6:20 to 6:40 pm in February and March 2027, the highlight of the day.

### What are the dates of Ramadan 2027 in Morocco?

It is expected from 8 or 9 February to 8 or 9 March 2027, give or take a day, with Eid al-Fitr on 9 and 10 March. The Ministry of Habous confirms the start the evening before, after the moon sighting.

### Can non-fasting guests eat lunch?

Yes, at the hotel, ideally in a room reserved for the group; have it written into the quote. In town, avoid eating or drinking openly in the street during the day.

### Is alcohol served during Ramadan?

It depends on the venue. Ask in writing before signing and plan an alcohol-free offer in any case.

### Does the time difference change during Ramadan?

No. Morocco has stayed on GMT all year since 20 September 2026: during Ramadan 2027 it shares London’s time and is one hour behind Paris.
